Menifee seniors celebrate Christmas at Carnival, Fair

By Heather Lipson, The Menifee Experience

Excitement and joy filled Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday as the Menifee Christmas Carnival and Craft Fair welcomed senior citizens from across the community for a festive afternoon of fun, fellowship, and celebration. The event was hosted by local non-profit Angel in Me, whose mission focuses on supporting senior citizens by providing social activities and events throughout the year.

Senior citizens were able to attend the event free of charge, and attendees took part in classic carnival-style games such as bag toss, ring toss, and fishing games. The tickets were provided for free to all attendees, and they were able to win real cash to spend at the vendor booths available on site. The most unique game played was one that required participants to take off their shoes and walk across Legos and toy traps to win real cash prizes.

Residents of all ages browsed a variety of vendor booths featuring handmade crafts and gifts, finding unique items perfect for the holidays. These items included crochet blankets, vintage jewelry, hand-painted Christmas decor, holiday pastries and cakes, and so much more. Over 30 different booths were available, and each had a unique theme and products being sold.

A complimentary lunch was served inside the church, allowing guests to sit together and socialize while enjoying free refreshments and live entertainment. Many seniors were able to participate in sing-along karaoke performances of classic Christmas songs. The familiar holiday songs encouraged participation, laughter, and a strong sense of community throughout the afternoon.

Organizer Cynthia Nemelka, who operates the Angel in Me non-profit, has publicly emphasized that these events are designed specifically to do more than just provide entertainment, but are meant to create connection, joy, and meaningful experiences for seniors who may otherwise feel isolated during the holiday season.
