The Patriots Cup Golf Tournament will return to Menifee this spring, with organizers adding a new partnership aimed at supporting local veterans.
Hosted by the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce, the tournament is scheduled for May 22 at Menifee Lakes Country Club. Registration for the event is now open.
The Patriots Cup began in 2016 and has become one of the chamber’s annual community events.
This year marks the first time the tournament will include a formal fundraising partnership. According to the chamber, 10 percent of the net proceeds will be donated to PGA HOPE, a program of the Southern California PGA Foundation.
“These funds will specifically support local golf programs designed to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of veterans through the game of golf,” according to chamber officials.
Chamber CEO Katie Luna said the partnership is meant to bring the community together while supporting those who served.
“The Patriots Cup represents the very best of Menifee,” Luna said. “It’s business leaders, community members and veterans coming together around a shared purpose. Our partnership with the Southern California PGA Foundation allows us to extend the impact of this tournament beyond the fairway and directly into the lives of local veterans through PGA HOPE.”
PGA HOPE provides golf as a form of therapy for military veterans, according to Luna.
“We look forward to establishing this partnership and making a meaningful impact through the funds raised during this year’s event,” she said.
Organizers expect the tournament to draw a full field of 144 golfers, along with about 20 vendors participating throughout the event.
The Patriots Cup is typically held around Memorial Day weekend and is meant to recognize the area’s veteran community while also helping support local businesses and chamber programs.
Registration is open for individual golfers and foursomes. Community members who do not golf can still get involved through sponsorships or vendor participation.
