The Heritage High girls water polo team has an impressive 9-3 record, but things didn’t go the Patriots’ way in a 19-6 loss to Poly on Thursday.
Gracie Ledesma led the Patriots with 3 goals and four earned ejections at the set position. Even though Heritage lost its league opener, coach Lucky Stephenson is excited about this team’s chances this season.
“As we move into the Ivy League, we’re excited for the opportunity to compete against strong programs,” Stephenson said. “I believe the challenges ahead will push us, but they will also build resilience, skill, and confidence within our team. Our team has a pretty solid start to the season with a 9-3 record after this loss.”
The Patriots, who moved into the Ivy League from the Sunbelt League this season, will next play a home game against Vista Murrieta on Monday.
