Santa Rosa Academy students performed above statewide averages in English language arts and mathematics in nearly every grade and subject category, according to newly released state test scores.
The California Department of Education released the 2025-26 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) results last week, showing how students performed compared with the previous school year and statewide averages.
Some of the largest improvements were recorded in fifth-grade mathematics and 11th-grade English language arts.
Among 11th graders, 68.9 percent scored Proficient or Advanced in English language arts, up from 52.2 percent last year and above the statewide average of 57.4 percent.
Mathematics proficiency also increased, from 26.5 percent to 36.1 percent, compared with 31.9 percent statewide.
Fifth-grade mathematics saw another notable increase, rising from 43.6 percent to 58.9 percent, above the statewide average of 36.7 percent. English language arts scores also improved, from 60.4 percent to 62.6 percent, compared with 49.2 percent statewide.
Third-grade students recorded improvements in both subjects. English language arts proficiency increased from 62.4 percent to 67.3 percent, compared with 44.1 percent statewide. Mathematics rose from 61.5 percent to 63.5 percent, above the statewide average of 47 percent.
Fourth-grade results declined slightly in both subjects. English language arts decreased from 58.1 percent to 57.3 percent, while mathematics dropped from 60.2 percent to 59.1 percent. Both remained above statewide averages of 45.8 percent and 42.4 percent, respectively.
Sixth-grade English language arts proficiency fell from 54.4 percent to 49.7 percent, but remained above the statewide average of 48 percent. Mathematics improved from 33.7 percent to 37 percent, narrowly below the statewide average of 37.2 percent.
Seventh graders recorded declines in both subjects. English language arts proficiency decreased from 62.6 percent to 57.5 percent, while mathematics slipped from 40.1 percent to 39.9 percent. Both results remained above statewide averages of 50.6 percent and 37.5 percent, respectively.
Eighth-grade English language arts remained relatively steady at 55.3 percent, compared with 55.6 percent the previous year. Mathematics increased from 38.6 percent to 42.8 percent. Both results exceeded statewide averages of 49.5 percent in English language arts and 36.3 percent in mathematics.
The CAASPP assessments measure student achievement in English language arts and mathematics in grades three through eight and 11. Results are divided into four achievement levels: Minimal, Developing, Proficient and Advanced.
