Menifee Police are investigating the death of a man who was found deceased in a local residence on April 25.
Officers responded at 6:46 p.m. to a residential alarm in the 21900 block of Moraga Street. It was determined that a concerned neighbor had triggered the alarm when he entered the residence to check on a neighbor he had not been seen for several weeks, according to an MPD press release.
Inside, officers discovered the body of 57-year-old Derrick Osbey in an advanced state of decomposition.
“Due to the condition in which Mr. Osbey was found, a cause of death was unable to be determined,” the press release stated. “Therefore, the Riverside County Coroner and Menifee Police Department Investigators were notified to assume the investigation.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results; at this time, this incident remains an active investigation.”
