Santa Rosa Academy eighth grader Caleb Garcia was honored by the Menifee City Council last week after winning a gold medal at the recent U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships.
Caleb, who trains at Quest Taekwondo in Temecula, won gold in the World Class Black Belt Cadet -45kg Division. He competed against athletes from the United States, Canada, French Polynesia, Cuba, Israel, and Kyrgyzstan.

“It’s so exciting, having the opportunity to recognize you,” council member Ben Diederich said. “It shows people Menifee is doing great things.”
“You’re putting Menifee on the map internationally,” Mayor Ricky Estrada said.
