Two local boys volleyball teams will be at home and two others are on the road Tuesday when the CIF Southern Section playoffs begin.
In brackets announced on Friday, Liberty (24-7) of the Ivy League will play host to Irvine (17-17) in a Division 4 match at 6 p.m.. The Bison finished regular-season play with a 3-1 win over Rancho Verde. Liberty’s leading attacker is Ethan Ford, who has 221 kills this season (a 41.2 kill percentage) and Joseph Bankston, who has 215 kills (36.1). Somuandina Igwedinma has 213 kills for a team-leading 47.2 percentage. Alan Aidarkhanov leads with 75 blocks.
In Division 8, Santa Rosa Academy (12-10) will be at home against Century (13-10). The Rangers defeated San Jacinto Leadership Academy in their last match.
In Division 3, Paloma Valley (21-7) will open the playoffs at Mission Viejo (22-11). Leading the way for the Wildcats is James Olweny, who has 245 blocks for a 44.3 kill percentage. Jayden Estrella has 200 kills for a 48.21 percentage. John Keith leads with 71 blocks.
In Division 6, Heritage (15-10) will play at San Gabriel (15-7). The Patriots are led by Kaiden Kaye (196 kills, 34.8 percent) and Carmelo Williams (186 kills, 42.1 percent).
