Three players from CIF Division 4 finalist Liberty High School have been named to the All-CIF boys water polo team.
Senior attacker Cael Hansen, junior utility player Chase Mankin, and senior defender Gavin Stephens all played key roles for the Bison, who posted a 25-8 record and lost a heartbreaker in overtime, 13-12, to Charter Oak in the CIF finals.
“These three boys were our captains this season and they did exactly what captains needed to do and more,” said coach Hailey Badham. “They led their team all the way to the finals. They showed true leadership in and out of the pool. I am a firm believer that all those boys in the pool followed in the steps of their captains when it came to the hard work and relentless drive.
“At the beginning of the season, I let the team vote for who they feel is best fit to be their captain. The team decided on these three young men, and I think that speaks volumes in itself. The trust and faith these boys had in not only themselves but their teammates had such an impact on the accomplishments they had this season.”
