A juvenile riding a pocket bike was injured Wednesday morning when struck by a vehicle at a Menifee intersection, authorities said.
The collision occurred at about 11:51 a.m. at the intersection of First Star Court and Menifee Road, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. According to the preliminary investigation, the pocket bike was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway at the time of the collision with a Subaru passenger vehicle driven by a 36-year-old male resident of Menifee.
The pocket bike rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike upon impact. The juvenile sustained a fractured right wrist and abrasions, police said. The juvenile was conscious and alert and was transported to a medical facility by a parent who was called to the scene.
The driver of the Subaru reported no injuries. Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
Pocket bikes are not e-bikes. They are small motorcycles powered by a gasoline engine.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Officer Clay with the Menifee Police Department Traffic Unit at 951-723-1566 or the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1500.
