A juvenile riding a skateboard on Murrieta Road Monday night collided with a vehicle and is in critical but stable condition in a local hospital, police said.
The male juvenile was riding a manual, non-motorized skateboard in the southbound lane of Murrieta Road near the intersection of Murphy Ranch Road about 9:36 p.m. According to a Menifee Police Department news release, the juvenile had no lighting device and was not wearing reflective gear or a helmet.
Upon impact with a Honda Civic, the rider was thrown from the skateboard and sustained injuries to his head as well as abrasions to his hands and arms. The investigation is ongoing. No information was released about the vehicle’s speed or direction of travel.
The driver of the Honda Civic, a female Menifee resident, stopped to render aid while a passenger in the vehicle called 911.
Medical personnel treated him at the scene before transporting him to a hospital.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. At this time, investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
Anyone with information related to the collision is urged to contact Officer Clay with the Menifee Police Department Traffic Unit at 951-723-1566 or the Traffic Unit main line at 951-723-1500.
