Vegetation fire on Menifee’s southern border stopped at 10.3 acres

Firefighters from Murrieta, Menifee and other departments acted quickly and stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire at 10.3 acres Sunday afternoon on the border of the two cities.

The fire was reported about 3:30 p.m. in a rural area near Keller Road and Gloria Road, CAL FIRE reported. Multiple ground units and two firefighting aircraft were ordered, and fire retardant drops had an immediate effect.

Although the Watch Duty app reported that structures were threatened at one time, forward progress was stopped at 5  p.m. with no structures damaged and no injuries. Crews remained on scene for mop-up.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
