It was pitching that defined Saturday night’s game in Stockton between the Lake Elsinore Storm and the Stockton Ports. Unfortunately for the Storm, it was 3 pitchers who were the story for Stockton.

Ports starter Roberto Urdaneta and relievers Brayan Restituyo — who earned the win — and Donny Troconis — who got the save — scattered 5 Storm hits and gave up just 1 run in a 10-1 drubbing of Lake Elsinore at Banner Island Ballpark.

For the Storm, starter Tyler Schmitt took the loss. He surrendered 7 earned runs, including 2 home runs in 3 innings of work.  On the positive side, reliever Nick Falter pitched 2 innings, striking out 4, giving up 3 hits and no runs.

Notably, for the 3rd time this season, position player Luke Cantwell mopped up for Lake Elsinore.  He pitched a scoreless 8th inning, allowing just one hit.

Lake Elsinore is now 6-8 on the season.

The teams will play the final game of the 6-game series this afternoon at 2:09 pm in Stockton.

The Storm return to Diamond Stadium on Tuesday, April 21 at 6:05 p.m. to play the Visalia Rawhide.  For tickets, visit tickets@stormbaseball.com or visit the Diamond Stadium Box Office prior to the game. The Box Office opens 3 hours before the game.
