The Lake Elsinore Storm made it two wins in a row on Friday against the Stockton Ports in Northern California, winning 6-3 in game 4 of the 6-game series.
The Storm scored all 6 of its runs in the last 4 innings of the game to overcome an early 2-0 deficit.
First baseman Luke Cantwell had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Justin DeCriscio contributed with 2 hits and 1 RBI. Both players had a double.
Storm starter Kruz Schoolcraft, the Padres’ highest ranked prospect, pitched better than he had in his first two starts. Coming into the game, Schoolcraft had given up 9 earned runs in 1.1 innings. On Friday, he pitched 3 innings, surrendering only 1 earned run.
Pitcher Rordy Mejia relieved Schoolcraft and pitched very well, striking out 4 and only allowing 1 unearned run over 2.2 innings. Brandon Langley earned the win with 1.1 innings of work while striking out 3 and giving up just 1 hit. He is now 1-1 on the season.
Closer Ethan Long earned his 3rd save of the campaign, pitching a scoreless 9th inning.
With the win, the Storm improved to 6-7 this year, just 1 game out of first place in the California League’s South Division.
The teams will play the 5th game of the 6-game series tonight at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton at 7:05 pm.
