Menifee 24/7 is pleased to honor Athletes of the Month for February at Paloma Valley High School. Honorees were selected by the coaches of their respective sports and were recognized with a presentation of certificates and photo opportunity on campus.
Samantha LaDue of the girls soccer team “has been a huge part of our success this season,” said coach Katelyn Fregosi. “In CIF, she assisted 3 of our 4 goals and helped lead us all the way to the semifinals as a captain. She’s not only a strong leader and competitor on the field, but she also maintains a 4.0+ GPA while taking a full schedule made up mostly of Honors and AP classes as a senior. She truly represents what it means to be a student-athlete.”
Charlotte Stewart of the girls water polo team scored 3 goals in the team’s 7-6 playoff victory over Burroughs High. She helped lead the Wildcats to a 20-9 record.
Freshman wrestler Reynalyn Geronimo won the CIF girls individual championship at 100 pounds, then placed second at the Masters meet to qualify for the State meet. She became the first-ever freshman CIF champion in school history as well as the first freshman to make the Masters finals. She also helped lead the team to the semifinals of the CIF Duals. She finished in the top 15 of the national rankings.
Boys wrestler Anthony Saldana was a league champion, CIF-SS champion, fourth-place finisher at Masters, and qualified for the State meet. He is ranked in the top 20 in the state. He also helped lead the Wildcats to a CIF team championship.
