Menifee Chief Financial Officer Travis Hickey is leaving the city for a new position in Banning after nearly three years of service, according to Mayor Pro Tem Bob Karwin.
City Manager Armando Villa recognized Hickey during Wednesday’s City Council meeting, presenting him with a certificate of appreciation and highlighting his contributions to the city’s finances.
Villa credited Hickey with helping implement a new financial management system and developing an investment portfolio to diversify the city’s investments and revenue sources.
“He was very instrumental in making sure our finances were well,” he said. “Thanks to his help, the city is very healthy.”
Hickey, who joined the city in October 2023, thanked the council, city manager’s office and fellow departments for their support.
“I really enjoyed my time here,” Hickey said.
Villa said Hickey’s new position will put him closer to home.
“We tried to do everything we could to keep him,” Villa said.
According to Karwin, Margarita Cornejo, the city’s director of strategic programs and initiatives, will be promoted.
