Jack Rendell said he is running for the Romoland School District Board to bring his business and real estate experience to the district while focusing on safety, communication and support for students and staff.
Rendell, who is retired, spent more than 20 years working in real estate and as a business owner. His wife has been a teacher for more than 20 years and currently teaches fourth grade in the Romoland School District.
Rendell said his wife’s career has given him an opportunity to get to know teachers and classified staff and better understand some of the challenges they face.
When the opportunity to run for the board came, Rendell said he saw a chance to use his business background and problem-solving skills while supporting the district.
“Ultimately, the goal is to make sure that the students succeed,” he said. “I also believe that when teachers and classified staff feel supported, then kids have a better opportunity for success.”
Rendell said safety and communication have been common concerns he has heard while talking with parents in the community during his campaign.
When it comes to safety, Rendell said he wants parents to be better informed and wants students and teachers to feel safe coming to school each day.
He also wants to make sure teachers and classified staff feel supported and have an opportunity to be heard.
“That’s going to start with listening, of course,” Rendell said. “I definitely want to focus mostly on listening, giving people that voice that they need.”
Rendell, who is running against incumbent Christopher Clark for the Trustee Area 5 seat, said he believes his background and willingness to communicate with the community would bring a different perspective to the board.
He said he plans to focus on transparency and following through on what he tells the community.
Rendell said he would also like to see board members become more involved in the community by attending events and visiting schools.
“I think being more involved with the community itself will make a huge difference,” he said.
Rendell is endorsed by the Romoland Teachers Association and California School Employees Association Romoland Chapter 499.
