The free event, hosted by Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Aldergate Dog Park, 28688 Aldergate Drive. This year marks the 11th year of the event, which includes the costume contest, raffles and vendors.

Craig Shultz, public information officer for Valley-Wide, said last year’s contest had 41 dogs competing across three weight classes.

Dogs are divided into three groups based on weight: under 20 pounds, 21 to 59 pounds and 60 pounds or more. Three judges will choose winners for cutest, scariest, best, judges’ choice and best human/pet combination.

The human/pet combination category was added about three years ago, giving owners a chance to get in on the costume contest too.

Registration will take place at the event and is free. Instead of trophies, winners will receive gift certificates this year.

The event will also feature a food truck, mobile groomers, a doggie dentist, a dental office, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters and Kahoots, a longtime supporter of Dog Daze.
