The Paloma Valley High School girls lacrosse team improved its overall record to 19-3 Tuesday with an 18-5 victory over Liberty in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. The Wildcats will play at El Toro in the second round today.

“It was a great CIF matchup,” Wildcats coach James Murphy said. “Credit to Liberty for making the first half competitive. I’m proud of how our girls stayed composed and made key adjustments at halftime. We were able to score from all angles and played aggressive defense that limited their opportunities. That balance made the difference.”

In the second half, Paloma Valley really took off, outscoring the Bison, 13-1.

“We’ve worked hard to build this program, and it’s exciting to see Paloma Valley becoming the lacrosse school in Menifee,” Murphy said. “After going undefeated in league and winning it last year, we’re heading into playoffs with momentum, and we’re ready for the next challenge.”

In boys volleyball, Liberty will be at Royal High in a Division 4 match at 6 p.m. Liberty beat Irvine 3-0 on Tuesday. In Division 8, Santa Rosa Academy will be at home against Paramount at 6 p.m. The Rangers beat Century 3-0 on Tuesday.
