Storm loses in extra innings on a wild pitch in Stockton

The Lake Elsinore Storm opened its second 2026 road trip Tuesday with a loss to the Stockton Ports 5-4 in 11 innings.  The game started at 11 a.m. as part of Minor League Baseball’s Education Day event.

The game was scoreless until the 4th inning when the Ports scratched out a run on fielder’s choice. The home team scored 2 more in the 7th on 2 extra base hits, including a triple from Ports center fielder Breyson Guedez.

The Storm tied the game in the 7th inning on 3 hits, a walk, a stolen base, and a wild pitch.

Lake Elsinore took the lead in the 10th inning on a Truitt Madonna sacrifice fly.  However, Stockton tied it in the bottom half of the inning.

In the 11th, Stockton won the game on a walk -ff after Storm pitcher Daichi Moriki’s wild pitch.

Storm center fielder Conner Westenburg continued to play well with 2 hits and 3 stolen bases in the game. Lake Elsinore pitching was good too. Six hurlers struck out 14 Ports batters.

With the loss, the Storm falls to 4-6 on the season.  

Game 2 of the 6-game series is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton tonight.
