Menifee 24/7 is pleased to honor Athletes of the Month for March at Paloma Valley High School. Honorees were selected by the coaches of their respective sports and were recognized with a presentation of certificates and photo opportunity on campus.
Baseball player Clinton Glass led the team in batting average .(419) and RBIs (14) during the month of March. Also, he pitched 13 innings with a 1.077 ERA. He maintains a 3.72 GPA as well.
Girls lacrosse player Riley Beltran “has been the team’s leading goal scorer, and has really improved this year by constantly being a scoring threat anywhere on the field,” said her coach, James Murphy.
Boys lacrosse player Anthony Taliercio “has been a proven leader both on and off the field,” said coach Jeff Young. “He has led the team in continuing to compete. He has held himself and teammates to high standards and holds them accountable.”
Boys golfer Nathan Liu is just a freshman. “He is being named Athlete of the Month for his strong performance, consistency, and positive attitude,” said coach Jessica Bees. “As one of the team’s top players, Nathan has quickly made an impact with his steady play and reliability in matches. He is a straight-A student who represents the program with integrity, responsibility, and respect both on and off the course.
“Nathan is known for being coachable, supportive of his teammates, and always willing to help when needed. Nathan is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete. He is consistent, dependable, and always does things the right way.”
Softball player Laura Liera has a batting average of .543 with 25 hits, 5 doubles, 3 home runs, and 21 RBIs. “Laura is a great person on and off the field,” said coach Ray Arredondo. “We are very grateful to have Laura on our side because I wouldn’t want to face her at the plate. Laura is solid behind the dish with one error in 107 chances this season. She is an absolute workhorse on the field and has a passion with intense fire behind it to win.”
Brody Williams has been honored as Athlete of the Month for the boys swim team. The girls team honors Kaylee Gutierrez, a team co-captain who “is a model for her teammates, and she lifts those up around her in addition to being one of our strongest swimmers,” said coach Andrew Mares. “She is currently fifth all-time in the 50 and 100 freestyle. She also has CIF consideration in multiple events: 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle.”
Girls track athlete McKenna Cameron is in her first year competing on the team. “She has already proven to be a valuable part of the team as our top distance runner (800m, 1600m and 3200m),” said coach Rebekkah Ouk. “She consistently goes above and beyond in both practice and competition, serving as a positive role model for teammates.”
Boys volleyball James Olweny is a standout player for the Wildcats, who have a 22-5 record. He leads the team in kills with 208.
Tennis player Cash Lamberta has the highest winning percentage on the team and is an outstanding student, said coach Chuck Kemp.
Stunt cheer competitor Brielle Taylor “has been working incredibly hard on her basing and tumbling skills,” said coach Parris Schuyler. “She has brought her grades up and shows so much grit during our practices and is always ready to step up!”
