Strong winds affected some of the performances, but it didnāt dampen the enthusiasm of the athletes from 20 track and field teams that participated in the Freedom Invitational at Heritage High School on Saturday.
Beaumont High swept the team scoring, finishing first in the boys and girls varsity events as well as the boys and girls frosh-soph events. Heritage finished second in the frosh-soph competition and Santa Rosa Academy placed third.
Heritageās Javon Butler finished third in the boys varsity 400 with a time of 52.10. Alexis Bentley of the Patriots placed fourth in the girls 300 hurdles in 52.64. Franklin York of Heritage finished fourth in the boys 800 with a time of 2:08.88.
