Menifee 24/7 is pleased to honor Athletes of the Month for January at Santa Rosa Academy. Honorees were selected by the coaches of their respective sports and were recognized with a presentation of certificates and photo opportunity on campus.
Tahani Thompson represents the girls soccer team.
“Tahani works incredibly hard in the back line and is always looking for improvement,” said coach Morgan Wood. “She is one of our leaders and we love having her on the field.”
Girls basketball player Maddie Flores “always comes locked in and is the most humble player I’ve ever met,” said coach Shalimar Brewer. “She’s a beast on defense, and not much can get by her. She has a tremendous basketball IQ. Her hustle and drive is commendable. She has a great attitude as well.”
Eric Schauer Jr. led the boys soccer team in both scoring with 1.1 goals per game and assists with almost 1 assist per game.
“Eric plays when injured and is a spark plug on offense when needed.,” said coach Richard Taylor. “In essence, he is an offensive threat every time he touches the ball!”
Kandice Clark was chosen from the stunt cheer team.
“Kandice has shown incredible improvement this season,” said coach Rebecca Yarbrough. “She is not afraid of a new skill and goes above and beyond to practice in her free time to improve and step up her level of play. She is a pleasure to have on the team and is committed to trying her best.”
