Press release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE — For the third consecutive year, Safewise has ranked Menifee as one of the Top 20 safest cities in California. The city improved its ranking this year to No. 17 based on the most recent FBI-reported violent and property crime data. “Maintaining a safe community is one of our top priorities,” said Acting Mayor Bob Karwin. “The Menifee City Council remains committed to investing in public safety and supporting our first responders.”
Established in July 2020, the Menifee Police Department has continued to expand its personnel and capabilities to become a leading police department in the region. Just this last year, the PD launched its Drone as First Responder (DFR) program that allows officers to better assess conditions, enhance safety, and make informed decisions before and during their response.
The PD also launched its first Police Recruit position, which provides a creative and sustainable way to invest in individuals early in their law enforcement careers, while also helping strengthen the department’s culture and long-term succession planning.
“Being recognized as one of the safest cities in California is a testament to the collective work of the men and women of the Menifee Police Department who serve with integrity and professionalism every day,” said Acting Chief of Police Dave Gutierrez. “Our team remains committed to engaging with the community and keeping our residents and businesses safe.”
The City of Menifee also continues to make investments in quality-of-life enhancements, including fire stations, parks, streets, and other social infrastructure that contribute to the city’s overall community health and safety.
“We understand there is a correlation between being a safe city and having a well-designed, well-maintained, and socially connected community,” said City Manager Armando G. Villa. “The City of Menifee continues planning with purpose to ensure that we are delivering a premier, safe, thriving, and inclusive city for all.”
