Paloma Valley High School is headed to the CIF-SS Division 3 girls soccer semifinals after defeating La Salle 2-1 at home on Wednesday.
Luna Diaz and Adelie Corona scored off corner kick assists by Sam LaDue as the Wildcats improved to 14-6-5 on the season. They will play at Crescenta Valley (19-6-2) at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
La Salle’s only goal came off a free kick in the second half. Otherwise, goalkeeper Zoe Manzano made some big saves to preserve the lead for Paloma Valley.
“I can’t say it enough; I am so proud of this group,” said coach Katelyn Fregosi. “They’ve earned every single win. They battle until the final second, and tonight was another example of that. They set the tone early and never let up.
“We’re excited for the semifinals, locked in, and ready to compete.”
Adelie Corona scored the winning goal for the Wildcats.
In another local girls soccer playoff game on Wednesday, Santa Rosa Academy lost a home game to Cate, 5-1. The Rangers ended their season with a 9-4-7 record.
