Still celebrating a league championship and a 15-5 overall record, the Paloma Valley High School flag football team will open the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs on Tuesday at Serrano High in Phelan.
The Wildcats won the Inland Valley League with a 12-1 record. Overall, they have won 13 of their last 14 games.
Quarterback Mandi Ball is the star of the offense. She has passed for over 1,000 yards with 40 touchdowns. Ball has also rushed for over 400 yards and 10 TDs.
“Defensively, our girls have continued to improve throughout the season,” said coach Orell Colbert. “We’ve had several dominant performances, with Isabella Davis and Paige Barron leading the way. Our defense has played a major role in our success, and I’m proud of how much this group has grown.
“What makes this season even more special is that this is our first year as a program. These girls have bought into what we’re building, competed every week, and made history by bringing home a league championship. Now our focus shifts to the CIF playoffs. We’re excited about the opportunity and look forward to seeing how far this group will go.”
