Anthony Sullivan and Alena Gibas will represent Santa Rosa Academy in the CIF track and field finals.
Two discus throwers will represent Santa Rosa Academy Saturday at Moorpark High School, joining a small group of elite athletes from Menifee competing in the CIF Southern Section track and field finals.
Anthony Sullivan qualified with a fourth-place throw of 133-3 in the Division 4 prelims last weekend. That set a school record. In addition, Alena Gibas qualified with a 10th-place throw of 96-3 in the girls competition.
“We had a great day with all of our record-breaking 22 athletes either earning a PR or getting a school record,” said Santa Rosa coach John Hernandez. “Blakely Chatman set a school record in the 100 at 12.71, but just missed advancing to CIF Finals. Unfortunately, our magical season ended for 20 of our 22 athletes.
“We are excited to continue our magical dream season with two of our very best athletes representing our entire team and the SRA Track and Field Family!”
Also competing in the CIF finals will be Paloma Valley triple jumper Arthur Stringer. He placed third in the Division 1 prelims with a leap of 46-8 1/2. Liberty sprinter Faise Tamale qualified with a fifth-place finish with a time of 12.25.
