A 54-year-old man died in a traffic collision Friday night on Menifee Road, police said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2024 Toyota Prius northbound on Menifee Road north of McLaughlin Road about 8 p.m., according to a Menifee Police Department news release. His vehicle collided with a Southern California Edison utility truck that was making a left turn out of the driveway of the Edison substation.
After the impact, the Prius struck a wooden electrical pole being pulled by the SCE truck. The driver of the Prius was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
