The city’s long-awaited Central Park amphitheater could host four to six large, ticketed events each year under a proposed agreement with an outside event production company.

The Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission voted unanimously Thursday to recommend City Council approval of an agreement with Brahma Media Group to produce events at the amphitheater, including four summer concerts and two larger festivals.

The amphitheater itself remains under construction after a series of delays and rising costs. City staff said Thursday that there is still no definitive completion date, although the city continues to target the end of the calendar year.

The city issued a request for proposals in December seeking an event production company for the amphitheater. Two proposals were received, and city staff selected Brahma Media Group as the most qualified firm.

Under the agreement, Brahma Media Group would handle much of the work that goes into putting on the events, including booking entertainment, staging, audio and lighting, ticketing, vendors, food and beverage operations, sponsorships, marketing and event staffing.

The city would continue to maintain the amphitheater and help coordinate permitting, public safety, electrical needs, marketing and other support.

Event revenue would first be used to cover applicable expenses. Any remaining net revenue would then be split, with 90 percent going to Brahma Media Group and 10 percent going to the city.

That split drew questions from commissioners.

“I just want to make sure that 10 percent covers all of the regular maintenance and everything else,” Commissioner Justin Metoyer said. “I just want to make sure that we’re not going to go in the negative by resetting that for these major events.”

City staff said the 90-10 split was proposed by Brahma Media Group. The city does not yet have an estimate for how much revenue it could receive from the agreement.

Parking was also discussed for larger events. Staff said nearby parking areas, including a future City Hall parking lot and potential shared parking at the Menifee Justice Center, could accommodate an estimated 2,500 people at a time. Shuttle service could also be used if needed.

The proposed agreement would run through June 30, 2027, with the option for up to four additional one-year extensions.

The agreement with Brahma Media Group will next go to the City Council for consideration.
