Halloween is coming a few months early in Menifee as families prepare to celebrate the return of Summerween at the Motte Historical Car Museum.
The free, family-friendly event will take place July 8, inviting attendees of all ages to dress in costume and enjoy trick-or-treating, photo opportunities and exploring the museum. While registration is encouraged, walk-up attendees are welcome. The 11:30 a.m. entry time remains open to the public. Candy is available on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are gone.
The event was launched last year by Menifee Mom founder Allie Kurpieski after she came across the growing Summerween trend online and thought it would be a fun way to bring the community together. More than 600 people attended the inaugural event, exceeding her expectations.
“It was a really unexpected turnout, and people were so gracious because it was such a unique activity,” Kurpieski said. “People went all out for it. It was such a great time.”
This year’s celebration has already attracted more than 1,000 registered families.
Kurpieski started the Menifee Mom social media page two years ago. As a new mom in the community, she found herself searching for family activities. Unable to find a single source for local events, she decided to create one herself.
“Menifee Mom was my postpartum project,” she said.
What began as a personal project has since grown into a community-focused social media page highlighting local events, businesses and family activities.
“I realized that it was a great tool to build community and share about businesses and mom life in general,” Kurpieski said. “It’s grown beyond whatever I had envisioned for it.”
Summerween is hosted in partnership with the Motte Historical Museum and supported by several local businesses, including Cayenne’s Juice Factory, Mestas Family McDonald’s, Silver Sage Ranch, The Wonders of Sensory Play, Empire Dryer, and AA Rocha Construction Inc.
