Santa Rosa Academy fell behind 4-0 in the first inning and couldn’t recover in an 8-5 loss to visiting Marshall High Thursday in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 8 baseball playoffs.
The Rangers outhit Marshall 12-7 but made 7 errors in the game. They tried to rally with 3 runs in the 6th inning and 1 in the 7th but fell short. Santa Rosa Academy ends its season with a 17-5 record.
Elijah Brewer was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs for SRA. Luke Hamilton was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Starting pitcher Max Dupree gave up 5 runs (only 1 of them earned) in 3 innings of work.
Marshall, now 11-14 overall, will play Chadwick in the second round on May 19.
