This summer, Aaron Hennings from Santa Rosa Academy will join outstanding students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, The National Youth Leadership Forum, Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, June 25 through July 2.
The National Youth Leadership Forum, Engineering is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
As a dedicated high school student passionate about naval engineering, Aaron is honored to have been nominated for the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Engineering. Aaron has earned the Superintendents Gold State Testing Award and maintained a place on the Presidential Honor Roll at Santa Rosa Academy, where he is actively involved in the Engineering Academy and has already completed several college courses through the Early College High School program.
In addition to his academic achievements, Aaron holds a current Blue Belt in Nishi Kaze Seido karate with the American Christian Karate Association and enjoys supporting short-term missions through his church, demonstrating his commitment to both personal discipline and community service.
“I am particularly excited to attend NYLF: Engineering because it offers a rare opportunity to collaborate with professional engineers in a high-tech university setting,” said Aaron Hennings. “With my longstanding interest in naval warship design and history, I an eager to learn new skills I can apply toward solutions in marine engineering, and in gaining practical experience, confidence, and professional connections needed to pursue my future work in naval engineering.”
This summer seminar also awards college units in Special Topics in Leadership through George Mason University.
“I am excited for Aaron to meet, work, and collaborate with fellow high-aspiring students from other cities and schools,” said Dr. Jan Sikorsky, Vice President, Education for Envision. “The National Youth Leadership Forum, Engineering is a wonderful opportunity for ambitious young students to explore their interests outside the classroom and discover how to innovate and think creatively through hands-on immersive learning. Our students are challenged with real-world simulations and problems, working together to develop unique solutions and projects to bring life to their studies and career interests.”
