Santa Rosa track team has record-breaking day at league meet

The Santa Rosa Academy boys and girls track teams placed first overall Wednesday in the Rangers’ South Valley League opener at Nuview High School.

The boys team finished with 153 points, beating the next closest team by 46 points. The girls scored 198 points, beating the next closest team by 88 points.

The Rangers broke six school records and had nine first-place finishes. Highlights of the meet:

— Orlando Landa-Wells placed first in the 200m with a time of 24.04

— Anthony Sullivan placed first in the discus with a throw of 114-0

— Scarlett Oakley placed first in the 1600m with a time of 6:06

— Scarlett Oakley placed first in the 800m with a time of 2:40

— Scarlett Oakley placed first in the 3200

— The girls 4x400m relay team placed first with a time of 4:39. Team members were Scarlett Oakley, Aubrey Layton, Jayleen Mendoza, and Giselle Martinez.

— The girls 4x100m relay team placed first with a time of 53.81. Team members were Blakely Chatman, Elena Marlow, Cambria Dierks, and Evangeline Aitchison.

— LaNijah Burris placed first in the long jump with a jump of 14-6

— LaNijah Burris placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 30-3

— Orlando Landa-Wells broke the school 200m record at 24.04

— Ben Judnick broke the 110m hurdles school record at 19:57

— Blakely Chatman broke the school 100m record at 13.07

— Blakely Chatman broke the school 200m record at 27.47

— Blakely Chatman broke the school 100m Hurdles record at 18.90

— Alena Gibas broke the discus school record at 101-6

Orlando Landa-Wells (4) set a school record in the 200.

LaNijah Burris placed first in the long jump and triple jump.
