The Paloma Valley High School boys basketball team prepared for the upcoming CIF-SS playoffs by scoring a 59-49 victory over Lakeside Monday night.
The Wildcats improved their overall record to 15-13 overall and 8-2 in the Inland Valley League. CIF playoff matchups will be announced on Saturday.
Paloma Valley took a 17-12 lead in the first quarter and the Wildcats’ 20-12 advantage in the third quarter helped put the game away. Anthony Medrano led scorers with 15 points, followed by Chris Helms with 8 points and 11 rebounds and Rey Rivas with 8 points.
“The game was to honor our parents and seniors for their commitment to the program,” said coach Derrick O’Neil. “We now have consecutive playoff appearances. Everyone knows the goal, but we will focus on the work.”
