Santa Rosa Academy’s boys soccer team had the opportunity to rotate most of its roster Tuesday night during a 15-1 rout of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School.
The Rangers improved their overall record to 9-4-2. They are 6-4-2 for fourth place in the South Valley League with two games remaining, including Thursday’s game at Nuview Bridge.
“To be honest, the score was not indicative of what I was looking for, which was more ball movement, movement without the ball, talking, and just overall combined team play,” said coach Richard Taylor. “At the same time, our freshmen did some wonderful things out there. Sebastian Jacobo had a hat trick, Chaz Leonard had a nice breakway, and Chrismael Frias Zamora had a nice goal.
“Also, two of our seniors, Benjamin Judnick and CJ Sperling, scored their first goals of the season. In all, we had 12 different players score, and Eli Russell had a nice keeper save in the penalty box.
“Although it was nice to get the win and I am happy for the gentlemen, we need to focus just a little bit more as our two biggest games of the season are coming up this Thursday and next Tuesday.”
