The City of Menifee is inviting bids for the construction of two pre-engineered buildings at Audie Murphy Ranch Sports Park, located at Newport Road and Lone Pine Drive.
The contract would be for 120 work days and the estimated cost is $500,000, according to a public notice issued this week. The first building will be a permanent ticket booth to serve the skate park and youth sports staff. The second building, approximately 1,000 square feet, will be a permanent Park Ranger Stadion with space to host educational programming, said Phil Southard, public information officer for the City of Menifee.
Southard said the skate park has declined in usage over the last year, as noted in this chart:

“There has been a noticeable decline in the use of the skate park since the opening of the Gale Webb Action Sports Park in 2022,” Southard said. City staff is currently in the process of evaluating the future operational needs of the skate park and will be working with the Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission on potential recommendations.”

The skate park re-opened with a celebration in 2017, but attendance has declined. (File photo)
