Santa Rosa Academy fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and couldn’t make up the deficit Friday night in losing to Saddleback 28-11 in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 13 football playoffs.
The Rangers fought back to close the gap to 14-9 by the end of the third quarter, but a big fourth quarter by the visitors put the game away. Santa Rosa Academy, which won its first-ever league title this season, finishes with a 9-3 record.
In a Division 10 game in Garden Grove, Liberty’s season ended in a 13-7 loss to Pacifica. The Bison’s only score was on a touchdown pass from Devin Dillard to Dominic Hall. The Bison got the ball back via a punt with three minutes left but couldn’t score.
Liberty, which finished second in league, ends up with a 6-6 record.
