Menifee 24/7 is pleased to honor Athletes of the Month for the months of December and January at Liberty High School. Honorees were selected by the coaches of their respective sports and were recognized with a presentation of certificates and photo opportunity on campus.
“Faith Igo has been an invaluable part of the girls water polo team,” said coach Hailey Badham. “Her outstanding dedication, leadership, and performance in the pool has proved this. She consistently goes above and beyond in practices, pushing herself and her teammates to improve. Beyond her athletic abilities, Faith embodies sportsmanship, encouraging her teammates and maintaining a positive attitude, even in challenging moments. Her constant smile and radiating positivity is significant in the dynamic of our team.
“Faith is the definition of a student athlete, maintaining a 4.2 GPA, and was recently accepted into multiple colleges while navigating being a stat girl for our boys water polo team, being a captain for our girls team, and also being a part of our swim team. We cannot wait to see all the incredible things that Faith will achieve as she continues to build a bright and successful future for herself.”
Lillian Alagao has been a key player for the girls soccer team the last couple months. She can play multiple positions – defender, midfielder, and forward.
The Bison boys and girls wrestling teams have continued to develop the program, and key wrestlers honored this month are Jordan Moore and Jersey Brodowski.
Malaya Baker is second in scoring and rebounds on the girls basketball team and she ranks third in steals.
Andrew Holmes of the boys soccer team “has had an incredible season so far, leading his team as one of the captains and seniors on the pitch and setting the standard for the rest of his teammates in all areas,” said his coach, Garrett Hayden. “Andy has really come into his own this season, not only with his performances but also with his attitude and work ethic, which have been second to none.
“Andy currently has 2 goals and 4 assists this month (January) from the left back position, which is almost unheard of and definitely a credit to his abilities, and this output has helped his team into second place in the standings. All of these have made Andy an indispensable part of the team and are a true credit to the growth and improvements he’s worked so hard to make in his life.”
Rene Delgado of the boys basketball team “has played exceptional basketball for Liberty,” said his coach, Cory Cornelius. “Whether coming off the bench or starting, he produces on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, he steps up and guards the other team’s best players. Rene has achieved a 4.0 GPA this semester.”
