A motorist was arrested on DUI charges Saturday during a DUI checkpoint conducted by Menifee Police.
The motorist, whose identity was not released, was also charged with being in possession of a switch blade and drug paraphernalia, according to an MPD news release. Two other drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed.
A total of 465 vehicles were screened near the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Sun City Boulevard from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
“Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired,” the news release stated. “Menifee Police Department is 100 percent committed to preventing, deterring, and arresting impaired driver in Menifee and will continue to be a top priority.”
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
