A Menifee man was one of three individuals arrested on Thursday on charges of shoplifting at a business in Lake Elsinore, police said.
Thomas Thorsborne, 30, was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center and faces a felony charge of shoplifting and petty theft with priors, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release. The enactment of Proposition 36 allows those committing thefts to be prosecuted for a felony if they have two prior convictions or similar offenses.
Thorsborne is being held without bail in the Southwest Detention Center and has a Feb. 4 court date. Also booked on Proposition 36 charges was Nicholas Wilhelm, 46, of Lake Elsinore. Iran Flores Alvarado, 39, of Lake Elsinore was booked on a charge of shoplifting.
The suspects were arrested by deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Robbery/Burglary Supression Team who were conducting an operation in conjunction with loss prevention officers at a business in the 18200 block of Collier Avenue in Lake Elsinore.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Deputies Noel or Castro at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station 951-245–3300.
