A court hearing originally scheduled for Monday was not held because charges were never filed against a Heritage High School teacher accused of child abuse, authorities said.
Stacey MacPherson, 54, was arrested Nov. 12, 2024 following a report of physical assault of a student on campus, according to the Menifee Police Department. According to the preliminary investigation, an altercation occurred between the teacher and the student.
MacPherson was placed on administrative leave at the time and a court date was scheduled for Feb. 10. However, John Hall of the District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that, “Based on a lack of sufficient evidence, no charges were filed in this matter. The determination to not file charges … was made previous to yesterday.”
Asked about the status of MacPherson, deputy superintendent Candace Reines of the Perris Union High School District released this statement on Tuesday:
“The Perris Union High School District is aware of the district attorney’s decision not to prosecute district employee Ms. MacPherson. While her employment status remains in a paid administrative leave status, as personnel matters and decisions are covered by privacy laws, we are unable to comment further.”
