A Riverside County Fire captain who once served at Menifee Station 68 died Monday from multiple stab wounds suffered in a home attack, authorities said.
Rebecca Marodi, 49, was found in her home in the 20200 block of Rancho Villa Road in Ramona about 8:58 p.m. Monday, according to a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department press release. The call was listed as an assault with a deadly weapon. Life-saving measures were performed but Marodi died at the scene.
Investigators suspect that the victim knew the perpetrator and are treating this as a potential domestic violence incident, said Lt. Michael Krugh.
According to a Fire Department press release, Marodi began her career as a volunteer firefighter in 1993 in Moreno Valley. She moved up through the ranks at units in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties and was promoted to captain in 2022. At the time of her death, she was serving at French Valley Fire Station 83.
“Throughout her career, she held assignments at the Emergency Command Center in Perris, Home Gardens Fire Station 13, Indian Wells Fire Station 55, Menifee Fire Station 68, North Rancho Mirage Fire Station 69, Temecula Battalion 15 relief, and French Valley Fire Station 83,” the news release stated.
Menifee Fire Station 68 is located on Murrieta Road on southern Menifee.
