A suspect in an assault in Moreno Valley was located and taken into custody in Menifee Saturday night, authorities said.
The incident began at 3:16 p.m., when Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Dierdre Vickers. Upon arrival at a residence in the 24000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, deputies located a female victim with significant injuries. She is hospitalized in critical condition.
The suspect fled before deputies’ arrival. Working off a description of the suspect vehicle, deputies located it in the area of Ramona Expressway and Lake View Drive in Perris. A pursuit began and later ended about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Newport Road and Antelope Road in Menifee, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was not immediately identified and no other details were available.
