Suspect arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run

Menifee Police on Sunday arrested a Menifee man on felony charges related to a fatal hit-and-run collision on McCall Boulevard, authorities said.

Miguel Castillo, 28, was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and has a court date of March 5 to face a charge of hit-and-run death. Bail was set at $75,000 and he was released on Monday pending the court date, according to jail records.

Police had been searching for a suspect in the death of 53-year-old Lucia Delgado of San Bernardino. She was found lying in a dirt field near the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Aspel Road at 6:59 a.m. Sunday. The investigation indicated she had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

About 3:19 p.m. the same day, investigators located a vehicle that was possibly involved in the incident, according to a Menifee PD news release today. Responding to an address in Menifee, they located a grey Honda Pilot with significant collision damage. Evidence was located and collected that supported the investigation and Castillo was arrested.
