Menifee Police investigators are working to identify and locate the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision that killed a woman Sunday morning.
Officers responded at 6:59 a.m. to the report of a female lying near the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Aspel Road, close to the Menifee Global Medical Center. Upon arrival, they found an adult female in a dirt field, suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to a Menifee PD news release.
CAL Fire and AMR responded and the female was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified by the Coroner's Office on Monday as 53-year-old Lucia Delgado of San Bernardino.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the female was in the roadway in the westbound lanes of McCall Boulevard just east of Aspel Road and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver fled the scene.
