Menifee Police officers are searching for the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that caused serious injuries to a bicyclist on Thursday.
Police responded at 6:47 p.m. near the intersection of Menifee Road and Triple Crown Road, north of Highway 74 in the Romoland community. They found a 48-year-old male lying on the ground and suffering from non-life-threatening injuries to his arms and leg. CAL FIRE and AMR responded and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
Witnesses stated that they saw the bicyclist down but did not observe the collision. The road was shut down for several hours during the initial investigation.
It was learned that the male was riding his bicycle north on Menifee Road. For unknown reasons, a vehicle traveling north struck the bicyclist. The driver fled the scene. Investigators are attempting to identify and locate the vehicle involved. It is believed to be a blue sedan and will have front-end damage.
