Residents in several areas of Menifee are without power Wednesday and could be until sometime Thursday, according to Southern California Edison.
The first reports of outages came from the community of Quail Valley Tuesday afternoon, but outages spread to many other parts of the city. A statement from SCE Wednesday morning said the following:
“We are currently experiencing a significant number of weather-related power outages and Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) throughout our service area due to strong winds and wildfire-weather conditions. To prioritize the safety of our crews and your community, we will restore power once the winds have settled, and our power lines are safely inspected.”
Some residents have reported on social media that they have been informed they could be without power until Thursday night or even sometime Friday. As reported on the City of Menifee Facebook page, information at power outages can be found at this website.
Wind damage locally has been minimal, according to resident reports on the Menifee 24/7 Facebook page. Many are expressing gratitude that there have been no fires in Menifee, and residents continue to watch the news of devastating fires in Los Angeles County.
The Riverside County Fire Department reports that it has sent three Type 1 strike teams to assist in fighting the Eaton Fire in Altadena. That includes equipment from Station 7 in Menifee.
