The Heritage High girls water polo team did it again on Wednesday, defeating Moreno Valley 15-3 to win the Sunbelt League championship.
A day after beating Hillcrest 14-4 on Tuesday in the Sunbelt League Tournament semifinals, the Patriots dominated Moreno Valley in the championship game. Gracie Ledesma scored 9 goals, Preslee Hart had 5 assists, and goalkeeper Alana O’Neal blocked 15 shots.
“Our team’s tenacity was great,” said coach Lucky Stephenson. “Our defense was relentless. We stayed on them so they couldn’t breathe.”
With the win, the Patriots’ overall record improved to 15-8. They went undefeated in league play with a 7-0 record. The Patriots will find out about their next game on Friday when the CIF playoff draw is announced.
In the third-place game of the Ivy League Tournament, Paloma Valley lost to Valley View, 8-7. The Wildcats will also learn their first-round playoff opponent on Friday.
