Two men were arrested recently after a call for service resulted in the discovery of two handguns, a large sum of cash and marijuana in their vehicle, the Menifee Police Department announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Menifee PD officers responded to the AM/PM gas station at Highway 74 and Menifee Road on the morning of Nov. 24, the news release stated. The reporting party stated they were afraid the occupants of a vehicle were going to commit a robbery.
Officers detained three males and the Sheriff’s Department K9 unit responded to assist in searching for the gun. A positive alert by the K9 allowed officers to further investigate. Two handguns were located on the passenger seat, and the cash and marijuana were in plain view.
A search warrant was issued for the vehicle and approximately $50,000 in currency and marijuana were recovered.
