Motorists were injured in two separate traffic collisions over the weekend in Menifee.
The first occurred at about 9:05 p.m. on Saturday near the McCall Boulevard overpass and the southbound 215 Freeway off-ramp, according to a Menifee Police Department news release. It involved a silver Corvette and three other vehicles.
Cal Fire first responders performed lifesaving measures on the occupant of the Corvette who was trapped inside his vehicle. Occupants of the other vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All parties were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident. Witnesses reported that the driver of the Corvette was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision. Alcohol is believed to be a factor as well.
Anyone who has any information regarding this collision is asked to call Officer Clay at 951-723-1566 or contact the Traffic Unit at 951-723-1690.
The second incident occurred at about 6:07 a.m. on Sunday. Officers responded to a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 74 and Trumble Avenue. According to a Menifee PD news release, a compact vehicle collided with a traffic light pole.
The vehicle caught on fire. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and citizens were first on the scene and helped the driver out of the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. The driver was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Menifee Police Traffic took over the investigation. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. It is believed the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
If anyone has any information related to this collision, please contact Officer Sims with the Menifee Police Traffic unit at 951-723-1645, or the traffic unit at 951-723-1500.
