A motorcyclist died Monday during a collision involving three motorists in the northern part of Menifee, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 4 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 74 and Menifee Road, according to a news release from the Menifee Police Department. The incident involved a motorcycle and two other vehicles. Cal Fire responders initiated lifesaving measures, but the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.
The Menifee Police Traffic Unit arrived on scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation determined that the motorcycle was involved in two separate collisions. The first involved a sedan and the second involved a pickup truck. Both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The deceased was identified as Danny Ponce Vargas, 28, of Hemet. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
